Wholesale in this category mostly does not mean a trade account with an application form. It means case quantities of the same products, sold on the same shelf, at a lower price per pound. That is a simpler decision than it sounds, and it turns on one question.
The question
This is not caution for its own sake. Changing wax family invalidates your wick. Changing container diameter invalidates your wick. Changing fragrance load can invalidate your wick. A case of wax bought before those are fixed commits you to the least reversible input while the reversible ones are still moving.

Notice the mismatch. A case of wax makes 112 candles; a 24-pack of tins covers a fifth of that. Buying bulk on one input and not the others just moves the bottleneck. The matched-quantity approach is on the supplies checklist.
What bulk actually saves
We are not going to print price comparisons, because prices move and a stale number here would be exactly the failure this site exists to avoid. What we can say is structural.
- Wax has the steepest curve. The jump from 5 lb to 10 lb to 45 lb is where most of the saving in this hobby lives.
- Wicks barely move. A 100-count pack is already the standard unit and larger packs save little.
- Containers save on shipping more than on unit price. Glass is heavy, and one large box beats three small ones.
- Consumables like labels and stickers are effectively free at scale. A thousand labels is a lifetime at hobby volume.

The costs nobody lists
- Storage. Forty-five pounds of wax in flakes takes noticeably more volume than the same weight in beads, because flakes pack less densely. Measure the cupboard before you order the case.
- Temperature. Wax stored somewhere warm softens and can fuse into a block, which puts you back to chipping it apart. A cool, dry cupboard, not a garage in August.
- Fragrance oil has a shelf life. Wax effectively does not, but oils oxidize and change over time. Buying fragrance in bulk is a worse bet than buying wax in bulk.
- Commitment. The real cost. A case of wax you have gone off is money you cannot get back and space you cannot use.

What that means
115 to 121F is within a couple of degrees of the 113 to 118F and 115 to 120F published for Golden Wax 464. Two container soys from different makers landing in the same band is a useful sanity check on both.
Forty-five pounds is about 112 eight-ounce candles. At that scale the per-pound saving is real, and so is the risk of being stuck with a wax you have not tested.
Buy a 5 lb bag of the same blend first, settle the wick, then buy the case. The specifications are identical so nothing is wasted.

Metal conducts heat, so a tin runs hotter at the rim than glass does at the same wick size. That usually means a slightly smaller wick than the same diameter in glass.
