Best Wax Melt Molds and Clamshells
Ranked on the published temperature ceiling, because a clamshell that softens at 150F is a container your pour temperature has to respect.

Wax melt molds look like the least technical purchase in this craft. They are not, because the plastic ones have a temperature limit and the wax you are pouring has a temperature, and those two numbers are closer together than anybody expects.
The number that decides everything
| Mold | Published ceiling | Type |
|---|---|---|
| Webake silicone, 40 cavity | 500F | Silicone |
| BZIDII silicone, 3 trays | 446F | Silicone |
| DGQ clamshells | 167F, stated as 75C | Plastic clamshell |
| PCREGPAE clamshells | 158F | Plastic clamshell |
| Jucoan clamshells | 150F | Plastic clamshell |
| CAKETYCG clamshells | 150F, stated as 65C | PET clamshell |
Now set that against the pour temperatures the waxes publish, which are on our candle wax temperature chart.
Clamshell or silicone
They are not competing products. One is packaging and one is a mold, and which you need depends on what happens to the melts afterward.

How we picked
- A published maximum temperature. All six publish one, which is unusual and welcome, and it is the first sort.
- Published cavity dimensions and total capacity, because that is what lets you cost a melt and match a warmer.
- Published wall thickness or material, which is what the temperature claim rests on.
- A published pack count. Five of the six state one.
- Features that address a real failure, such as rounded corners for release or a published label size for selling.
We have not poured into these molds. The full method is on how we pick.

Top pick · The highest published temperature ceiling of any clamshell here
DGQ Wax Melt Clamshell Molds, 6 Cavity, 100 Pack
DGQ
Publishes 167F, which is the most headroom any plastic clamshell in these picks gives you over a soy pour. It also publishes the label size, which is the figure that decides whether the labels you already bought will fit.

- Label size
- Stated to work with 2 1/3 x 3 3/8 in labelsSource: Amazon Creators API item data, read 2026-09-21
What that means
One hundred and sixty-seven degrees is the number that matters. The published GW 464 pour temperature is 140F, so this leaves 27 degrees of margin, and it is the only clamshell here that clears a 160F coconut soy heat step.
Publishing the label size is unusually thoughtful. If you are selling, the label is a second purchase and a clamshell that tells you its size saves a round of returns.
Six one-inch cubes at 2.4 ounces total means each cube is about 0.4 oz, which is the size most warmers are built around.
Good
- Highest published temperature ceiling of the clamshells here, at 167F
- Publishes cavity size, total capacity, wall thickness and label size
- 100 per pack, which is a real production quantity
Less good
- Still far below the 446F a silicone mold tolerates, so it is a pour-cool-only container
- Plastic type is not named beyond high temperature resistance
- One hundred clamshells is a lot if you are only making melts for yourself
Skip this one if
You are pouring paraffin hot or topping up with a heat gun. A 167F ceiling is close to those temperatures and silicone is the safer mold.

Pick 2 · Pouring any wax at any temperature, for melts you keep
Webake 40-Cavity Square Silicone Wax Melt Mold
Webake
Rated to a published 500F, which is more than three times what any clamshell here tolerates and more than any candle wax needs. Forty cavities in one tray, and it is reusable rather than a consumable.

- Food-grade silicone; oven, microwave, dishwasher and freezer safeSource: Amazon Creators API item data, read 2026-09-21
- Packaging use
- None; this is a mold, not a container
What that means
The temperature question disappears entirely with silicone. Paraffin at 160F, coconut soy heated to 160F, a heat gun pass over the top: none of it troubles a mold rated to 500F.
Forty cavities at 0.4 oz is 16 ounces per tray, so a pound of wax fills it once. That is a clean batch size.
What you give up is packaging. A silicone mold gives you loose cubes that then need a bag, a tin or a clamshell to sell or gift, which is why makers who sell end up buying both.
Good
- 500F rating removes every temperature constraint in this category
- Forty cavities, and a pound of wax fills the tray exactly
- Reusable, so it is a one-off purchase rather than a consumable
Less good
- Not packaging: cubes come out loose and still need a container
- Sold primarily as a chocolate and candy mold, so nothing on the listing is written for wax
- A large tray needs flat freezer or bench space to set
Skip this one if
You are selling melts. Buyers expect a sealed clamshell, and a silicone mold does not give you one.

Pick 3 · Getting the cubes out without cracking the tray
PCREGPAE Thickened Wax Melt Clamshell Molds
PCREGPAE
The only clamshell here that publishes a design change aimed at release: rounded cavity corners and a lift tab. It sits in the middle of the field on temperature at a published 158F.

- Reinforced snap-lock, stated to prevent leakageSource: Amazon Creators API item data, read 2026-09-21
- Pack count
- Not published on the listing
What that means
Rounded corners are a real fix for a real problem. Square corners in thin plastic are where a clamshell cracks when you twist it to pop a cube out.
At 158F it sits between the 150F pair and the 167F DGQ. That is still above a 140F soy pour, which is the pour this format is for.
The pack count is the gap. Every other clamshell here states 100 and this one does not state any number, so you are ordering an unknown quantity.
Good
- Publishes release-focused design details no other clamshell here mentions
- BPA-free is stated rather than implied
- 158F ceiling clears a standard soy pour comfortably
Less good
- Pack count is not published, unlike every other clamshell in these picks
- No published cavity dimensions or total capacity
- Mid-table on the specification that matters most
Skip this one if
You need to know how many you are getting. Three other clamshells here publish a count of 100 and this one publishes nothing.

Pick 4 · The largest published capacity per clamshell
Jucoan Wax Melt Clamshell Molds, 6 Cavity, 100 Pack
Jucoan
Publishes 0.5 oz per cavity and about 3 oz per clamshell, which is the most wax per unit in these picks. The trade is a 150F ceiling, the lowest here alongside the CAKETYCG.

- Snap lid, stated as tight-sealingSource: Amazon Creators API item data, read 2026-09-21
What that means
Three ounces against the 2.4 oz the other 100-packs publish is a quarter more wax per unit. If you are selling by the clamshell rather than by weight, that is either generosity or a pricing decision.
A published per-cavity figure of 0.5 oz is the number you want for costing. Our arithmetic for cost per melt uses exactly that.
One hundred and fifty degrees is only ten above a published 140F soy pour. That margin is real but it is thin, and it is gone the moment you pour at 150 to 160F.
Good
- Largest published capacity per clamshell in these picks
- Publishes per-cavity weight, which makes costing exact
- Publishes dimensions, wall thickness and closure type
Less good
- 150F ceiling is the joint lowest here
- Ten degrees of margin over a standard soy pour is not much
- No published label size, unlike the DGQ
Skip this one if
Your wax goes in above about 145F. The published ceiling does not leave room for it, and two other options here publish more.

Pick 5 · Knowing exactly which plastic you are pouring into
Clear PET Wax Melt Clamshell Molds, 6 Cavity, 100 Pack
CAKETYCG
The only clamshell here that names its material: PET, stated as not interacting with wax or dye. Same 150F ceiling and 2.4 oz capacity as the rest of the field.

- 2.4 ozSource: Amazon Creators API item data, read 2026-09-21
- Wall thickness
- 0.5 mmSource: Amazon Creators API item data, read 2026-09-21
What that means
Naming the polymer is worth something. PET is the same family as a drinks bottle, and knowing it lets you judge the temperature claim rather than take it on faith.
The stated 65C converts to 149F, so the listing's own 150F is a rounding of its metric figure rather than a separate measurement.
The explicit claim that it does not interact with dye matters if you color your melts, which most people selling them do.
Good
- Names the plastic, which no other clamshell here does
- States that it will not interact with wax or dye
- Publishes both metric and Fahrenheit figures, which cross-check
Less good
- 150F ceiling is the joint lowest in these picks
- 2.4 oz capacity is smaller than the Jucoan at the same pack count
- No published label size
Skip this one if
You want maximum headroom over your pour temperature. The DGQ publishes 17 more degrees for a similar pack.

Pick 6 · Three small trays instead of one large one
BZIDII Square Silicone Wax Melt Molds, 3 Pack
BZIDII
A published 446F rating and three separate trays, which is easier to handle and store than one big sheet. Its own capacity figures do not quite add up, and we are printing that rather than picking the flattering reading.
#ad · how this is funded · price as of October 17, 2026

- Material
- Food-grade silicone; microwave, oven, fridge and dishwasher safeSource: Amazon Creators API item data, read 2026-09-21
- Packaging use
- None; this is a mold, not a container
What that means
Three small trays beat one large one if your freezer shelf or bench is short, and they let you pour three scents without waiting for one tray to set.
The listing says 12 cavities and a 7 ounce total without saying whether the 12 is per tray or across all three. At 1.1 inch cubes those two readings give very different batch sizes, and the listing does not resolve it.
Four hundred and forty-six degrees is below the Webake's 500F and far above anything a candle wax requires, so the difference is academic.
Good
- Published 446F rating, so pour temperature is a non-issue
- Three separate trays are easier to store and to fill with different scents
- Food-grade silicone with the full appliance safety list published
Less good
- Cavity count is ambiguous: 12 stated, per tray or in total is not clear
- Not packaging, so selling still needs clamshells
- Smaller total capacity than the 40-cavity tray
Skip this one if
You want one pour to fill a pound of wax. The single 40-cavity tray does that and this needs juggling three trays.
Sizing a melt to a warmer
Every clamshell here uses the same 6-cavity format at roughly a 1-inch cube, and that is not a coincidence: it is the size warmers are built around. The published capacities differ slightly.
| Mold | Per cavity | Per clamshell |
|---|---|---|
| Jucoan | 0.5 oz | About 3 oz |
| DGQ | Not published individually | 2.4 oz |
| CAKETYCG | Not published individually | 2.4 oz |
| Webake silicone | 0.4 oz | 16 oz across 40 cavities |
What the listings do not tell you
- Whether the plastic is recyclable. Only one names its polymer at all, and that one says PET.
- How many reuses a clamshell survives. All are sold in 100-packs, which is its own answer.
- Label placement. One publishes a label size, at 2 1/3 by 3 3/8 inches. The rest leave you to measure.
- Anything about cold throw. No mold listing mentions it, and it is the property that actually sells a wax melt.
What we would buy
If you are selling or gifting: the DGQ clamshells. The highest published ceiling at 167F, a published label size, and the same 100-pack quantity as the rest.
If the melts are for you: the 40-cavity silicone tray. A published 500F rating removes the temperature question entirely, a pound of wax fills it exactly, and it never needs re-buying.
If you pour coconut or apricot blends at their published 160 to 180F: silicone, and it is not a close call. Two clamshells here publish 150F, and that is a softened tray and a ruined pour. Those ceilings also rule out one whole wax family: gel pours at a published 215 to 225F, as best gel wax for candles sets out.

Common questions
What is the best wax melt mold?
For selling, the DGQ clamshells: they publish a 167F ceiling, the highest of any clamshell here, plus the label size. For melts you keep, a silicone tray published at 500F, which takes any wax at any pour temperature and is reusable.
How hot can you pour wax into a clamshell?
Use the ceiling the clamshell publishes. The four here state 150F, 150F, 158F and 167F. A 140F soy pour clears all of them; a 160F coconut soy or coconut apricot pour clears at most one.
Are silicone molds better than clamshells for wax melts?
For temperature tolerance and reuse, yes: silicone publishes 446 to 500F against 150 to 167F. But silicone is not packaging. If you are selling melts, buyers expect a sealed clamshell, so most sellers end up with both.
How much wax does a wax melt clamshell hold?
Around 2.4 to 3 ounces across six cavities, depending on the brand. Jucoan publishes 0.5 oz per cavity and about 3 oz total; DGQ and CAKETYCG both publish 2.4 oz.
How many clamshells does a pound of wax fill?
About five to six, depending on the clamshell's published capacity. A pound is 16 ounces, and these hold 2.4 to 3 ounces each.
Can I reuse wax melt clamshells?
Two listings say they are reusable and all of them are sold in 100-packs, which tells you how the makers expect them to be used. A silicone mold is the genuinely reusable option.
What size are wax melt cubes?
About one inch square, six to a clamshell. That format is standard because it matches what wax warmers are built to hold. The silicone trays here use 1.1 and 1.2 inch cavities.
